Lithuanian Dairy Turns to Tetra Pak CPS for 'Whey Forward'
19th October 2011
Tetra Pak CPS continues to demonstrate the global capability of its Sherborne-based business, having designed and completed a one-off, specialist liquid food processing unit for a major dairy company in Lithuania.
The whey heater/cooler is designed to heat acid whey before clarification and separation, followed by cooling before further treatment. The skid-mounted unit is part of an order won by the international Tetra Pak group and has been delivered to Zemaitijos Pienas, one of the largest Baltic milk processing operations.
The company produces a wide range of milk products including fresh milk, ice cream, cheese, yoghurt, curd, bio-products and less familiar items such as sweet curd bars. A high proportion of its output is exported.
Tetra Pak CPS is experienced in designing and manufacturing bespoke systems to suit exacting customer requirements. The 20,000 litres per hour unit allows acid whey to be heated to a preset temperature before being fed to a clarifier and separator and then cooled. It incorporates a balance tank and tried and tested Tetra Pak MS10 heat exchanger.
The entire unit was pre-wired, pre-piped and tested before being shipped to Lithuania.
Tetra Pak CPS Sales Manager Toney Casey, said:
“We have lots of experience in working with overseas customers and distance is no barrier to delivering an efficient and competitively engineered solution. We are confident the unit will give long and effective service to Zemaitijos Pienas in Lithuania.”
